August 2011 Meeting

The August 2011 RIRUG meeting has been scheduled for August 17.

We will be holding the meeting Providence again at the following location:

1 State St, Suite 401
Providence, RI

Parking is in the main lot in front of the building.

In an effort to ease communication and planning, I’ve gone ahead and created a Google Group for our RUG. You can find it at http://groups.google.com/group/rirug.

If you are at all interested in attending the RIRUG meetings or just participating in some Ruby related chat with other Rhode Island developers, sign up and participate in the discussion via the website or mailing list.

First Meeting Ideas for October

We are hoping to plan and hold the first RI Ruby User Group sometime this October.

We still have a bit of work to do on the planning side – mainly lining up volunteers to speak and finding a date and location.

We’ll need a few people to volunteer to give a short talk or presentation since I haven’t been able to line a guest speaker up yet. The more volunteers the shorter everyone needs to talk. Maybe the first meeting can just be a simple “Drop your Pants” session where everyone gives a blitz talk on what projects they are currently working on??

Ideas? Comments? Suggestions?

Leave a comment if you are willing to give a talk and/or if you have any suggestions on a venue for the meetup.

After a few posts back and forth on RINexus I hope that the first official Rhode Island Ruby User Group is about to form.

We are still in the very early stages and are mostly gauging interest in forming such a group here in the Ocean State. No official meeting place or dates have been made yet but this site will be updated as new details become available.
